DAY 8 – THE CHURCH – THE LORD’S BUILDING

”Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.”
Psalm 127:1

In all that happens here on earth it is essential to know who is responsible. If there is uncertainty the whole project is shaky. The Lord takes the main responsibility so that we don ́t have to burn out. “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain.”

The prayer for the Church is not a prayer that God will bless our building project but rather a prayer to the Lord of the Church that we receive the grace to build as He wants.

There is a built-in rest in this way of thinking that is so incredibly easy to lose. That is when the hysteria of acti- vities arises, the Church becomes an organisation instead of an organism, it stops growing organically and instead grows by us attempting to pump it up, run around and trying to keep up our appearance.

I love living in an Asssembly that seethes with life and activity. But I also realize that if we don ́t ask the ques- tion as to whether it really bears fruit. If the Developer
is really a part of this or if it is only something we have made up, then there is a great risk that we will burn out. But grace rests upon every brick in the building of God. Grace means amongst other things that not all is perfect, at least not here on earth. But by grace the Church and us is perfected in it ́s weakness.
