Stay sharp !

Ok, here comes another inspiring episode from my everyday life 🙂

When we moved here to Gothenburg 6 years ago and into our present house we decided to not chicken out and buy a motorized lawn-mower but rather use some muscle power to cut our lawn and so we purchased a normal cylinder mower that you push along.

A great way to keep in shape. Things went well from there until recently when the mower really wasn´t doing what it should be doing, that is, cut the grass.

I started wondering whether it maybe was time to leave it to someone to sharpen the blades, but I just never got round to it.

Then one day my wife (the smarter of us both) said she had read on the internet that these sorts of mowers are constructed to be self-sharpening. She left me to investigate further and guess what… it was true.

I read that all you have to do is adjust to screws so that the blades just barely come into contact with another piece of metal. As you mow the lawn, the cylinder blades rotate and are automatically sharpened as they come into contact with the horizontal piece of metal.

End of my short illustration is that the lawn has never looked better, ok the mower makes a bit more noise because of the sharpening process but the main thing is it gets the job done and does what it is made for.

Life application for the week:

Many times we just get lazy and don´t keep our lives in the sharpened state they should be. There are of course the things that are advised in a lot of magazines, keep fit, eat healthy and so on, but sharpening your life can demand other things as well.

I believe that all humans are comprised of Body, Soul and Spirit and that all three areas need to be taken care of in order to stay sharp.

God is interested in our lives and has offered His assistance in keeping life in a healthy balance.

Like I said, keeping fit and eating right sharpens the body balance.

Enjoying life, making friends, doing things that make a difference sharpens your soul, so what about this spirit thing?

We are made to experience and explore the possibility of a relationship with God our Creator and get to know what a life together with Jesus can mean.

If you dare to let Jesus be a part of your life, He will definitely help you stay sharp and enrich your life.

In 1 Timothy chapter 4 the apostle Paul writes: “Train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”

So don´t try and make it through life like my blunt lawn-mower, but rather, invest in yourself and your future by keeping fit, eating right, enjoying life and above all do it all with the determination of allowing God to take part in it all.

Have a great week!
