When a mentor passes away…

Yesterday was an emotional one for me as the breaking news of the passing away of Dr. Myles Munroe was broadcast. It was such a shocker and the worst wake up message i’ve heard in a long time. I didn’t want to go to work as I felt the need to just spend time in prayer, reflection and quietness.

Myles Munroe has been one of my mentors through his well written books that are full of wisdom, revelation and power. He was a ‘purpose driven man’ who taught the word with an understanding and depth like nobody I know. His teachings have practically inspired me into action and opened my eyes and mind to see and question my core.

I remember just last month when God took me on a fast and started to teach me some kingdom truths through His word as well as through one of Myles books, “the most important person on earth”. This process transformed my mind and awakened a spiritual truth that had been dormant for a while.

I am eternally grateful for the tremendous impact Myles has had in my life, for the time he spent discovering and developing his gifts, hearing from God, passing on his God-given wisdom through all media possible and living an exemplary life.

As I was reflecting, I just couldn’t stop smiling at my thought: Myles has lived as if he were ten people :-). How could he achieve so much in 60years? Granted, he had found his purpose and was enjoying working it!

What about you and me? Are we living a life that is worthy of our calling? Are we living a poured-out life? Are we consciously walking in purpose? Are we exercising the power that is at work within us? Are we releasing the God-deposited wealth in us? Are we impacting lives?

If not, it’s not too late… God is birthing something new this November, if you will let Him…shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the Lord: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God…due date!!! Isaiah 66:9

I pray that we will live our lives in such a way that when we die, like the Apostle Paul, we will say “ I have finished my course, I have kept the faith and I have been poured out like a drink offering”.  I pray that when that time comes, we will have nothing left for us to do but die, completely emptied out.

I leave you with some of  my favourite Myles Munroe nuggets:

Purpose is when you know and understand what you were born to accomplish. Vision is when you see it in your mind and begin to imagine it.

The bible does not say that a man’s education makes room for him, but that his gifts does. Education is not the key to success, it doesn’t guarantee anything; it is your gift that is the key to success.

Your true work is what you were born to do. Your job is what you are doing just until you are ready to fulfil your vision.

Hard work and diligence are essential to success, but they require an internal motivation. That internal motivation is Vision.

Vision is a conception that is inspired by God in the hearts of Human…it requires a vital connection with God.

Your vision must be something that lives on even after you’re gone.

The poorest person on the earth is a person without a dream.

God loves dreamers.

If you have hope for the future you have true riches; no matter how much you have in your account.

You need to treat your finances as a resource God has provided to fulfil your vision, not a tool to fill your life with luxuries.

God completed you before He created you….you were designed to perfectly accomplish your purpose.

Every human being was created to accomplish what no one else can accomplish.

You are designed by God not to blend in, but to stand out.

You are not saved for the sole purpose of going to heaven; you are saved to finish your assignment on earth.

This to me is the greatest act of service to humanity – To deliver to us what you came to give us.

Have a purposeful week!!
