What About Death?

In the recent past I have heard an exaggerated amount of death reports that have been quite sudden. These have all seemed to be premature deaths, considering the ages of each of the people. Moreover, the reasons have been bizarre and puzzling from electrocution at a car wash to cancer, a road accident and suicide. I can only imagine the pain and grief  the families and friends are going through.

I presume that you too may have lost a close relative or friend one time or another and you therefore might have experienced the torrents of emotion, gruesome thoughts, perplexing assumptions and unanswered questions.

If you are grieving today, I pray that you would know of the closeness and comfort of God Who is close to the brokenhearted and Who saves those who are crushed in spirit. I also invite you to realise that death is not entirely a sad and hopeless end. It can in fact be the beginning of greater things, an everlasting life of joy and peace if you make the right decision.

My only blood brother passed away a couple of years ago and as much as it was sad, it was an exciting moment as well. God opened my eyes, before during and after his death, to some remarkable truths below which will help you understand my bitter-sweet experience…

  • We will all physically die (unless Jesus comes back first): It is appointed unto man once to die, then the judgment — every graveyard and every cemetery testify to this no matter if you deny it or remain ignorant of this biblical truth. Life is only a vapour that appears for a moment and then vanishes.
  • There is life after Death: There shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
  • Heaven and Hell are real:  God has clearly shown in His word that non-believers shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
  • Heaven was made for you: Jesus went to prepare a place for all those who would believe in Him. He desires that no man should perish but that all would be saved.
  • Hell was made for the devil and his angels: The bible points out that the everlasting fire was prepared for the devil and his angels.
  • Heaven is a conscious place of joy, eternal and irreversible: God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore…
  • Hell is a place of conscious torment, eternal and irreversible: In describing hell, the bible says that there will be a furnace of fire and the fire is not quenched, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, a torment of fire and brimstone, the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever and they have no rest day and night, If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life he was thrown into the lake of fire, the lake of fire is the second death…
  • A relationship with God through Jesus Christ leads to eternal life in Heaven: Jesus Christ is The Only Way to God The Father! Jesus also clearly stated that He is the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in Him, though he were dead, yet shall he live. Moreover, the word of God reminds us that our citizenship is in heaven and encourages us to have hope since Jesus died and rose again, and thus God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep IN HIM.

I am not afraid of death because for me to live is Christ and to die is gain. As a believer, I am living a purposeful and victorious life on earth and if I die, I will live eternally in  Heaven. This is why I also ‘rejoice’ when a believer dies because I know they are going to a better place and I will see them some day…for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

If you would like to have the same confidence, it is all through a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. I know it may sound very unattainable but it’s as simple as 1,2,3 :-). Write to us and we will be more than happy to share with you some more and guide you in the right direction.

God truly bless you as He opens your eyes to the truth!

Lots of love <3
