This month´s volunteer highlight is aimed at a great Kenyan woman named Rhoda.
Rhoda is one of those responsible for our fellowship and refreshment time after every Sunday service.
Having the great heart she does, she makes sure she takes her area of ministry very seriously as it can most times take quite a lot of preparation, especially if there is something special to be celebrated such as birthdays or baby dedications.
You really can´t miss her enthusiasm when she explains with a smile on her face: “I love when people come to fellowship together with us. I just love when there is sufficient food and beverages. Sometimes I see there’s a multitude of people lining up and I wonder if what we have will be enough but I remember when Jesus fed the multitude with only two fish and five loaves of bread and there was even some left over. Well, sometimes I see like the same miracle happening because we end up having more than enough!”
One of the main challenges is that not enough people are willing to stay around and help clean up, but Rhoda once again clarifies: “What I believe and what keeps me going and what people should know is that we are not serving man but God and whatever the challenges, it’s God we look up to. Serve with one heart and serve diligently. I feel God is very present in our ministry. I am evidence enough for I have seen His hand upon my life and am glad.”
“This is a ministry that accepted me for who I am as a person. I am very happy in this ministry because it fills my heart with joy knowing I am serving in the Lord’s house.”
Rhoda concludes our short talk by saying: “We need more people to come in the cafeteria to fellowship together with us. Help us to encourage the people to come up and fellowship together with us and refreshments cost only 10kr.”
