Knowledge is Power!

It was one of those very hot summer days in Gothenburg where the only way to survive the heat was to step into a freezer. Seeing as this was not an option (at least not for me šŸ˜‰ ), my friends and I set out to the nearest beach to cool off. As I slipped into my bathing suit and slowly walked towards the water, trying to detect from peopleā€™s reactions the current sea Ā temperature, a gentleman kindly pointed out a jellyfish warning me not to use that specific entry point into the sea.

Now, if youā€™re like me who knows nothing about jellyfish (apart from the very basic truth that they can sting) and who has no idea what they look like in reality, that was a pretty good save. In fact, I could have easily swum up to it to feel itā€™s texture, admire itā€™s shape and colour while capturing a visual image of this interesting ā€œsea-cropā€.

As I stood there questioning the kind gentleman about this species, I couldnā€™t help pondering on the importance of knowledge. What if this man didnā€™t inform me about the jellyfish? What if I didnā€™t question him more to find out some beneficial facts about this specific type of jellyfish? What if I ignored the knowledge acquired?

When knowledge is acquired, understood and applied appropriately, one reaps the fruit thereof.Ā  Clearly, ignorance is no defence as ones lack of knowledge doesnā€™t stop things from functioning as they are programmed to. Whether I was aware of the jellyfish or not, if I crossed itā€™s path, it would sting!

In the Kingdom of God there areĀ laws and statutes, conditions and consequences, keys and mysteries and so much more!!Ā The more we apply our minds to the knowledge of God, the more we live a successful victorious life. The opposite applies as God confirms when He declares in the book of Hosea that, ā€œmy people perish because of lack of knowledgeā€.

We sometimes falter and stagnate in our walk with God because we have rejected knowledge, we have rejected the law of God. We do not realise the power we have in the knowledge of God, the Creator of the universe. In fact, the knowledge of Him is the knowledge of ALL THINGSā€¦itā€™s lifeā€™s “short-cut”! This is why Peter tells us that God has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him. That deserves a glory dance šŸ˜‰

When I know that:

1.I can do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength, then I will faceĀ the ā€œimpossibleā€ situation head on, call on strength from God and fervently apply myself accordingly.

2. Nothing can separate me from the love of God, then I will not allow guilt, fear or trials to make me think or feel otherwise.

3. God turns all things around to work for my good because I love Him, then when I get a bad report, I will pray believing this and will rest assured that Godā€™s got my back!

4. With God all things are possible, then if I see a bloom of jellyfish on my side, I will ask God to save me from their attack and calmly swim away believing that He will!

It’s no wonder Daniel had no fear when thrown into the lion’s den,Ā Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego unmoved when thrown into a hot furnace, Noah confident to build a massive ark with no signs of rain. These men of old knew their God and it gave them the power to Ā say the unthinkable and do the impossible.

Letā€™s take time to know God, to sit at His feet, to gaze upon His face, to seek Him, study His word, dine with Himā€¦truly know Him. This will bring success in our lives, steer us into our purpose and destiny, grow in faith and love, have a daily impact, lead a godly life, walk in wisdom and vision, constantly filled with joy and peace!

This week let us purpose to know more of God and apply our knowledge appropriately!
