Volunteer of the month- Lidia Cueva

This month’s “volunteer of the month” is Lidia Cueva. Lidia is an amazing woman who is responsible for the evangelism run at Smyrna International. Every Tuesday she heads up a group that aim towards Brunnsparken in down-town Gothenburg, ready to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. She loves evangelism and sees it as something very natural.

“Personally I do it very often. There is an opportunity to do it everyday…for example on the tram and anywhere else,” shares Lidia.

On Tuesdays the group meets at Växthuset in Smyrna at 5.15pm to pray and at 5.45pm they go to Brunnsparken…It is always a great time! They give out tracts to people and make personal contacts and sometimes get to pray for people. Sometimes people even want to pray and ask Jesus to come into their lives. “In some cases people are not interested but we are not discouraged”, Lidia says.

Lidia continues to inform that the team uses tracts in both english and swedish.

“I evangelise because I love God and act in obedience to Jesus´ commandment to go and preach the gospel. I do it because I have compassion for all the people who don´t know the good news of the gospel,” says Lidia.

“It has affected my life in the most wonderful way. I have experienced the amazing love of God in the most powerful way, and I am so grateful to God for all He has done for me, giving His only Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for me, but He rose again from the dead and He is alive today and He lives in my heart! I just can´t keep this wonderful news just for myself!…It gives me so much joy to talk to people about Jesus!” Lidia adds with enthusiasm.

When asked to describe one of her memorable times evangelising, here’s what she had to say: “I met a lady who was very sad because her grandchild, 12 years old, died of Leukemia. She had many questions that I did not have the answer to. But what I do is always try to help people to understand their own needs, she needed rest in her soul and her spirit. She was crying for peace and hope. After a long conversation she was willing to open her heart to Jesus and we prayed together!”

Lidia continued to share: “When I am in Brunnsparken I see all these people and I am filled with so much compassion as the word of Isaiah 6:8 comes to me: Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send and who will go for us?…And I said Here I am, send me!” As well as  The Great Commission, Matthew 28:18-20…GO is an imperative commandment…GOD HAS A CHURCH IN ORDER TO FULFILL HIS MISSION…it is just a privilege to do it!”

I would like to invite any believer and follower of Jesus Christ to come to Brunnsparken every Tuesday at 6pm!!! WELCOME!!!

Thank you Lidia for being an inspiration and example through your life-style. May God bless you as you continue to encourage and lead others to spread the Gospel.
