”Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favour and a good name in the sight of God and man.Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:3-6

Is it possible to always speak the truth and live trustworthy without becoming hard? Is it possible to be good without sometimes using white lies and smoothing things out?

This portion of Scripture from one of the Bible ́s greatest books of wisdom, Proverbs, says that it is not only possible but also recommended. It is the best choice! When I am totally honest and at the same time want the best for those nearby, then it is a definition of practical wisdom that is appreciated by both God and people. Make note also of the order, first goodness then truth. It is a key. The result is so much more truth if it is soaked in goodness, love and truth.

In John ́s gospel 1:14 we can read that Jesus was filled with grace and truth. Again the order is the same. Grace first then truth. It seems therefore that you don ́t have to first confess and clean up in order to deserve grace. On the contrary, it comes first. In this kind of atmosphere I can handle uncomfortable truths and sort things out that aren ́t right.
The challenge and prayer for us is that our lives be marked with goodness and truth and in that order. /Johannes Magnusson

– Thank God for His truth that confronts what is injured and helps you become who you are meant to be.

– Pray for strength to face others with goodness and truth.
